We figured you might like to keep your dome warm and wrapped in some RIVALS gear, so we came up with some special edition beanies for you! Some Cool Bottles
October 28th, 2009So I was over my parents house today and I heard them talk about some old Port Wine bottles they had, which date back to 1947. Turns out they have two of them and they are destined to be passed on to their children, i.e., me and my brother.
After conducting some research I came to the conclusion these bottles are in fact worth some money and would be very sought after by the Port enthusiasts as 1947 was supposedly a year of a superb vintage. Now, I don’t know what will my brother do with the bottle that’s due to him, but I know exactly what I’m going to do with mine. I’m going to open it the day we finally open our RIVALS flagship store!Come see me when we do, and you might just get a sip.
These bottles were supposed to be exported, but my father’s godfather got the hold of them (he worked at a Port Wine cellar) and that’s how they ended up in my family. Just sharing with ya’ll.

Cocktail Molotof
October 26th, 2009So today we decided to go and pay a visit to the homies @ Cocktail Molotof. This has easily been one of our favorite stores for years, and now we are fortunate enough to have our own clothing line selling there. They carry some great brands (I won’t list them, but you can always check the photos I took), some of the most original designers and do have lots of special and limited editions. It’s a very urban store, but there’s definitely an edge of elegance to it. Actually, I’d say that’s the distinctive aspect about Cocktail Molotof: it’s elegance. I must also point out how they support good portuguese designers and provide a platform for their exposure. The store is located in Oporto’s (I really hate writing “Oporto”, it’s Porto for us, but we have to keep it international-friendly,*wink*) Art District, more specifically on Rua Miguel Bombarda. Go there, check the store out, it’s really worth it (and maybe bring a RIVALS tee home, you dig).
“GRAFIKA: a collection of prints by the artists of Beautiful Losers”
October 25th, 2009Yesterday we decided to go and check out the “GRAFIKA: a collection of prints by the artists of Beautiful Losers” exhibition that is now showing @ Maus Hábitos, here in Oporto. We have been interested in the “Beautiful Losers” documentary since we first heard about it. Let me just take a moment to point out how we usually have mixed feelings regarding the whole art world. But…”Beautiful Losers” always gave us nothing but positive feelings about it. Running a brand like we do, we know DIY to its core. It was the opening day for GRAFIKA and also the premiere of the documentary (for our country, that is), but in a weird twist of events our car broke down in one of the busiest streets in our city (sorry, no photos of that). There you have it, RIVALS causing traffic jams since 2009. So we did not get there in time for the screening of the film, but we still saw the collection. Now, I’m not going to get into great detail about the artists or the content of the exhibition (you can go here and here for that), but I’ll just have to congratulate the good people at S.P.O.T. for bringing this awesome display of underdog art into our city. It’s urban, it’s nerdy, it’s skate, it’s graffiti, it’s punk, it’s hip-hop, but more importantly, it’s pure. We totally recommend you go see it yourself.
We just couldn’t find the KAWS piece, even though we looked everywhere. We might have to go there again and conduct some further investigation!
